A Preston Hollow family wanted their kids safe around the pool without losing the open, resort feel of the backyard. Here’s how a 60-inch frameless glass fence gave them both, built in three stages from footer to finished reveal.
The homeowners had one priority above the rest: keep their children safe around the water. At the same time, they didn’t want a fence that closed off the yard. A frameless glass fence gave them a real barrier that meets pool safety expectations, without a single post breaking up the view of the pool, the fountains, and the stone patio behind it.
The project used the same specs from footer to finished panel:
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Height | 60 inches |
| Glass | 1/2-inch tempered, polished glass |
| Mounting system | Base shoe (no posts) |
| Foundation | Poured concrete footer |
| Project type | Residential glass pool fence |
| Location | Preston Hollow, Dallas, TX |
Pouring the footer
Every frameless glass fence starts below ground. The crew poured a concrete footer first, giving the base shoe system a solid, level foundation to lock into. Skipping this step is how a frameless fence ends up wavy or loose. This one didn’t.
Setting the base shoe system and glass
With the footer cured, the team installed the base shoe railing system and set the 60-inch, half-inch tempered glass panels into it. The base shoe holds each panel from below, which is what makes the finished fence look like it has no hardware at all.
The reveal
With the panels in and the turf laid back down, the finished fence disappeared into the backyard. Nothing about it reads as an add-on. It reads like it was part of the original design.
The family got a fully enclosed pool area that meets the standard they needed for their kids, with nothing standing between them and the view of the water, the fountains, and the stone architecture around it. No posts, no bulky hardware, just glass.
